The Unarmored Guild will once again be holding beginner and intermediate classes at Potrero War, as well as open sparring sessions throughout the weekend. The class schedule has not yet been finalized, which is good news: it means that if there is a specific class that YOU would really like to see on the schedule (or, if there is a class that you would really like to teach!), there is still time to make sure it happens! All you have to do is send an email to unarmored@potrerowar.org and we’ll do our best to get what the populace wants onto our schedule.
All Unarmored Activities will take place at the erics located just west of the Stone Tables and Merchants’ Row. Closed-toe shoes are required for participation in all Unarmored Activities.
Make sure to bring water and sunscreen, and wear clothes you can move comfortably in. Loaner gear will be provided; however, any student with their own equipment (Rawlins sword, buckler, gorget, gloves, fencing mask, elbow pads, gambeson, etc.) is encouraged to bring it along.
You do not need to have any prior combat/marshal experience to participate in the classes (although any advanced or intermediate classes may not be suitable for beginners). There will be no full-contact in any of the classes – only structured drills and partner exercises. Fighters currently authorized or in process on their authorization may spar during the open practice sessions. Beginners are welcome at open practice sessions to work on training, drills, and get one-on-one time with marshals and experienced fighters.
Material covered in classes will be announced once the schedule has been finalized.
